Cook Islands Bread from Room 2

On Friday the 8th of June 2012, Room 2 made bread as part of our Guided Inquiry Learning - Learning to appreciate cultural diversity within New Zealand. The purpose was for children to learn about how the bread made in the Cook Islands and compare it to the bread made in New Zealand.
First we mix the ingredients together in a bowl. Then we made round balls and put them on the tray. After that, we put the tray in the oven for about twenty minutes. I took my bread home and shared with my family. It was really yummy.

From everyone in Room 2

Your bread looks lovely and golden. I'm glad it tasted so yummy. What were the ingredients you used in your Cook Island bread?

  2. Hello Room 2,
Looking at your bread makes me feel hungry! Did you smell the fresh bread? Fresh bread always smells so nice.
Did you have to knead the Cook Islands bread - I made bread on Tuesday for our diner - I had to knead it for 8-10 minutes - my arms were sore at the end of all that kneading!

Our bread did smell really nice, just like NZ bread and it made us all felt hungry.

Lucky we did not knead our bread Tsana, we put dry flour on our hands before we made the round balls with the dough. It was easy!
