Watch out! We are here to look after our school, Glenbrae. We will be around during morning tea and lunch time. We will be giving out house points to those who are following the school rules. See you around!!
Constable Jude visited us for the second time, and she talked to us about being safe in a car. After a long talk in class we went out to the Police car for demonstrations.
We all went into the police car and she showed us how to buckle the seat belt and how to sit on a booster seat. It is more safe on a booster seat than sitting on the car seat with the seat belt on. We found out that at our age, we still need to sit on either a car seat or a booster seat until we are seven years old or until we are very tall.
Thank you Constable Jude for helping us to know all these things. We are going to share it with our parents and the rest of our whanau.
We had Constable Jude visited us for two days. First she taught us a lesson in calss about road safety. We have learned that there are so many accidents happen on the road and some of those could have been avoided if pedestrians known better.
The second part of the first day, we went outside for a walk. As we walked, Constable Jude talked to us about sneaky driveways, pedestrians crossing (sometimes called the zebra crossing), and also the safest side of the foot path. This was really cool and we loved it.
Before we crossed the road we learned about three ways.
- First, we walked up to the kurb and made two steps back.
- Secondly, we looked at both ways to check and listen for vehicles coming on the road.
- Lastly, we crossed the road but we did not stop checking on both sides of the road.
