Leybourne Circle in the near future

Look at what Leybourne circle would look like in the near future. Learners from Room 1 think that the new houses will look like these. Therefore this is the new look of the Leybourne Circle.

'Listen Up' Strategy

Students are not using word endings (“s”  “ing”) in their oral language - need to focus on this so they can hear and record sounds accurately in writing and recognise and use the correct structure when reading.

Using of 'Listen Up' strategy was very helpful. It helped students to attend more carefully at words given - attended to it's shape, it's letters etc.

Another way of learning new words - students are trying to recognise these sight words quickly and be able to say them correctly with confidence. Well done, Christian.

Reading

In the past three weeks, our learning focused was on attending to initial letters and common inflections while reading.

This became a focused after hearing my learners left out some of these when they speak or read. Remind you that almost all my students are second language learners of English so it is difficult to pick up these little sounds when talking.

We therefore made it as a big thing, everytime they read a book they must make a specific attention to the initial letter of words that they may not know, and also attend to the ending sound of every word in their book. We were specifically looked at words that end with 's, ing, ed'.

It was hard at the beginning but after sometime, it became a habit for my learners.
